Event Overview:
The Presidential Office Building hosted the New Year’s Day Flag-Raising Ceremony on Thursday, January 1, 2026. A series of performances began at 5:00 a.m. in front of the Presidential Office. Following the ceremony, the Presidential Office would be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors were warmly invited to take part in the celebration and welcome the new year together.
The New Year’s Day flag-raising ceremony opened to the public at 4:30 a.m., with a series of performances beginning at 5:00 a.m. The program kicked off with a medley performance by the marching band and honor guard of Taipei First Girls High School, setting the tone for the event. It was then followed by a performance from Rose Tomb, who conveyed themes of life education through music. Next, street dance teams composed of elementary and junior high school students from Taipei performed a hip-hop version of the national health exercise. Golden Melody Award-winning artist Ado’ Kaliting Pacidal then performed songs from the Mataian community in Hualien, expressing gratitude to the shovellers at the frontline. The event also featured a precision drill performance by the Armed Forces Honor Guard from the Ministry of National Defense Taiwan at the Presidential Office Plaza.
